1860 cover to The Right Reverend Bishop Goold in Melbourne, Victoria with Chalon 2d green showing some DOUBLING OF VALUE TABLET and engine turning and Chalon 4d (pencil marked "cobalt blue, fluorescent ink" on reverse) pmk'd Hobart "74" with part red Hobart Town alongside, reverse with ornate seal impressed black wax and Melbourne A/FE 4 60 arrival.
James Alipius Goold, Roman Catholic Archbishop, was born NO 4 1812 into a prosperous family in Cork, Ireland. Ordained in Rome, returned Ireland where he gained permission to volunteer for missionary work in New South Wales arriving Sydney FE 24 1838. Visited Ballarat gold fields 1854 and 1855 and pacified Catholic miners particularly after the Eureka affair.

The UNIQUE QV 1d red INVERTED "S" cover, Montserrat postal history (Ex THOMPSON)
1886 commercial cover to Mrs. Witham, Basseterre, St. Kitts with accepted by Post Office and correctly tied diagonally bisected QV 1d red (SG.8ca) with full QV 1d red with INVERTED "S" (SG.8a) alongside partly pmk'd identically inked "A08" with both MONTSERRAT A/JA 23 86 despatch and ST. KITTS C/JA 29 86 alongside address panel. A further 1d stamp, making up the 2½d inter-island rate, was lost during transit or subsequently removed, peripheral faults. Ex THOMPSON (1977).
This Perf. 14 bisect Cat.£1300 on cover, Inverted "S" Cat.£1000 and rated from x12 on cover. Sir Edward Bacon whilst examining a full sheet of 120 stamps established that the Setting was twice arranged in five horizontal rows with the inverted "S" appearing Stamp No.3 in both 2nd and 7th rows.

Parish "B" (INVERTED) used St. Marks, Grenada postal history
1898 use of QV 2d grey PSRE with added QV 2½d Keyplate (SG.51) to Egerton Burnett Ltd, Wellington, Somerset pmk'd "B" dated 17 FE 98, the removable "B" being inverted.
Only two covers with 2nd Parish Type INVERTED "B" are currently recorded, the other dated DE 12 95

EXCEPTIONALLY POWERFUL EXAMPLE OF THE DOUBLE SURCHARGE on 1893-94 QV FIVE PENCE on 6d deep lake (SG.60ac, Cat.£4,000), very fine appearance used showing part KINGSTOWN cds and "AP" month slug, small lower left corner marginal coloured marks will determine sheet position, reverse with thinned top perfs. 1975 RPS Certificate. TWO DIFFERENT NUMBERS on 1d POSTAGE DUE, St. Lucia stamps
1930 1d black/blue unused vertical pair (SG.D1h, Cat.£2,000), top stamp showing numbers 6536 and 6537, lower stamp showing number 6537.
Two different numbers on same stamp "few and far between" per Hap Pattiz. Partly erased with corrected number, and partially showing second number on same stamp much commoner.

BRITISH GUIANA 2c on 15c (1st Setting)
Positions 50,51,56,57. Position 50 showing a later state of the "no stop" (SG.224a, Cat.£70) in combination with shaved lower left leg of W, Position 56 with deformed T, Position 57 with lead mark between N and T, a fresh mounted mint block of four.
The lead mark on Position 57 is very similar to that found on Position 25. Position 57 has small chips to base and top right of T and does not have the retouched value tablet found on Position 25

BRITISH GUIANA 2c on 15c (1st Setting)
Positions 49,50,55,56. Position 50 being an early state showing "no stop" (SG.224a, Cat.£70) without broken left leg of W, a generally fine mint corner marginal block of four. An important multiple.
The "no stop" also shows tiny chip to base of T at right. In a later state the chip remains but the base of the left V of W has broken off.

BRITISH HONDURAS stamps:
1895 QV 1c dull green (SG.51), used pmk'd BELIZE A/OC 8 00 with DRAMATIC MISPLACED DUTY PLATE, some short base perfs. Not as spectacular as the Leewards QV 1d bi-coloured keyplate (scan appended) but UNIQUE AS CURRENTLY THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE.

1875 QV 2/- orange & green ovp'd "1d REVENUE" with roman "I" (Morley 1640), unused with large sealed horiz, tear at base and clipped defective corner, extremely rare.

ST. VINCENT stamps:
1882 DLR QV 1d drab ovp'd "Revenue" with OVERPRINT INVERTED (PML.9), the only example showing clear date of "31/12/83", minor blemish one perf. tip. Only four examples from a single sheet of 60 stamps are currently known to have survived.
The three other examples dated "15/12/83" (faults, Peter Jaffe lot 537), "15/12/83" (fine), and "29/12/83" (illus. PML handbook Page 147).
